Trust Golf Women’s Open
The LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET) have arrived at the home of golf this week for the fifth edition of the Trust Golf Women’s Open, the third of four events in LPGA Tour’s 2021 European swing.
After an exciting Olympic women’s golf tournament, Dumbarnie is set to host 31 players from last week’s Games in Tokyo, highlighted by bronze medalist Lydia Ko and Aditi Ashok, who took the world by storm with her fourth-place finish at Kasumigaseki Country Club.
World No. 8 Minjee Lee is the highest ranked player teeing up in Scotland and it’s looking like she’ll have a pretty good chance of winning this weekend. BUT I’ll also be looking out for defending champion Stacy Lewis... Lewis is a former British Open winner and World No. 1, she prevailed in a four-way-play-off for the title in North Berwick last year and I’m sure she’s looking to do it again.

Tune in to the Trust Women’s Golf Open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 9am - 2pm ET on the Golf Channel!
NWSL
As we know, some of the world’s best soccer players were whisked off to compete with national teams in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. BUT the league didn’t wait for them and new stars rose up in their absence.
Some stuff to note… the Portland Thorns are undefeated in their last six games (and remain in first place) AND 15-year-old Olivia Moultrie had her first pro start! So it’s safe to say I’ll still be looking out for the Thorns.
ALSO, Orlando Pride’s Sydney Leroux and OL Reign’s Bethany Balcer are leading the Golden Boot race! Leroux has seven goals over 13 games and Balcer has six goals through 13 appearances. Both of these players will be competing over the weekend and I will be watching to see if they add to their goal tallies!
The MVP race is also heating up and the top two Golden Boot contenders are definitely on the list! Heading into the back half of the season I’ll also be looking out for Orlando Pride’s Ashlyn Harris, Portland Thorns’ Simone Charley and North Carolina Courage’s Lynn Williams to take the MVP title this season.

The FIVE games scheduled for the weekend:
Houston Dash vs. Washington Spirit - Friday August 13 at 8:30pm ET
Orlando Pride vs. Portland Thorns - Saturday August 14 at 7pm ET
Kansas City vs. OL Reign - Saturday August 14 at 8pm ET
Gotham FC vs. Racing Louisville - Sunday August 15 at 5pm ET
North Carolina Courage vs. Chicago Red Stars - Sunday August 15 at 6pm ET

National Bank Open
The National Bank Open (formerly known as the Rogers Cup) is officially underway!
Things were looking positive for the Canadian women earlier on in the tournament but unfortunately, Canadian fan favourites Rebecca Marino and Bianca Andreescu were eliminated in the third round yesterday.
Marino lost against the tournament’s No.1 seed, Aryna Sabalenka and Andreescu saw defeat last night against Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur. Andreescu has had a tough season in terms of injuries and it was no different yesterday. She was looking to defend her title after winning the tournament in 2019 so it’s a disappointing loss for Canadian fans.

Going forward in the tournament, my eyes will be on Sabalenka to take home the title.

WNBA
Last night, the winner of the inaugural Commissioner’s Cup was decided as The Seattle Storm cruised to the victory, beating the Connecticut Sun 79-57.
The Cup was the first time the entire Storm team has been together after the WNBA went on break for the Olympics. And after that pause in play, I am so looking forward to the rest of the regular season. As teams get settled back into their groove, this home stretch is the chance for some real power moves to go down!
The SIX games scheduled over the weekend:
Storm vs. Sky - Sunday August 15 at 4pm ET
Sun vs. Wings - Sunday August 15 at 4pm ET
Mystics vs. Aces - Sunday August 15 at 6pm ET
Dream vs. Mercury - Sunday August 15 at 6pm ET
Liberty vs. Lynx - Sunday August 15 at 7pm ET
Fever vs. Sparks - Sunday August 15 at 9pm ET
